Headline inflation rate increases to 2.5% in April 2020

Annual inflation rate increased to 2.5% in April 2020, up from 2.2% recorded in March 2020. The increase in inflation rate is attributable to a rise in the constituancy of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other fuels, which reflected the upward adjustment in electricity tariffs in April 2020, by 22%. Core inflation (trimmed mean) was recorded at 1.8%, whilst core inflation without administered prices was 2.6%, both decreasing between the two months.
