17 June 2013
Botswana's coal sector is increasingly eyeing Eskom as a potential offtaker of supplies, with reports that sole producer, Morupile Coal Mine, is reaching some form of agreement with the South African Utility. It is reported that Shumba Coal's Managing Director, Mashale Phumaphi, said that Eskom is interested in importing coal from Botswana. He further asserted that Eskom needs 60-million tones a year of new coal to come on stream and in the next few years.         http://www.mmegi.bw/index.php?sid=4&aid=750&dir=2013/June/Friday14
